Endless Offroad Driving
This is a tech demo and not really a game!
If you get an error after loading the html5 game, it might be because you are blocking 3rd party cookies. Please disable this protection for itch.io to play this game. (This is because itch loads the game in an frame. Unfortunately itch also doesn't allow me to hotlink directly to the game.)
About:This game was created to test the performance and capabilities of the Godot game engine when exporting for HTML5. Further it tests an algorithm for the generation of an endless but interesting to traverse landscape.
Notes:
- Since this is an 3D browser game it might be slow or unplayable on some hardware. It would be awesome if you could leave some feedback on your game experience and the hardware you used.
- If the keyboard input doesn't work you need to make an additional mouse click in the game window. This might happen after starting or switching to full screen.
Thank you for playing

Work very well, not lagging or something: CPU Intel Pentium G860 / RAM 4 GB / used FireFox
Very light stuttering and audio clipping, but overall nice and enjoyable experience.
i5-7th gen with 16 GB Ram, played as standalone.
I was wondering what sort of car physics model + terrain mesh you used to get (relatively) smooth driving on bumpy terrain?
I can tell you add torque to the car upon acceleration, but not sure about the suspension - single raycast and a manually tuned PD controller for the springs?
The generated terrain is pretty cool, I was surprised you could transition from rough to flat terrain so flawlessly without glitching out!
Runs perfectly on my PC extremely slight stuttering but that's normal.

Great game!! I love the soundtrack, sounds like an Indiana Jones Arabian version :)
dont play it on chrome
Do you suggest it doesn’t work on chrome? (I only test with Firefox) Maybe you need to give it more time to load? What hardware are you using?

Nice!
Thank you! I have seen your driving game. It looks great as well. Unfortunately I can’t play it right now (linux user here), but I will give it a go soon ;)
